Why Shouldn't I Trust My Wife?
This question arose in my mind after reading a particular passage since everyone believes in trust as a major determinant of success in relationships, especially in marriage. after going through this article, we will find out the reason we must not trust in our spouse in anyway and how that can be a major cause of breakdown in marriages.
Now in our day to day relationships it has been said by many relationship experts that in every relationship two people must trust themselves to be able to survive together for long. I had exactly the same view until i came across this scripture in the life manual as i call it "The Bible". Micah 7:5 "Don't trust your neighbor, don't confide in your friend. watch your words even with your spouse." as i read this scripture i was shocked. But when i began comparing scriptures with scriptures i discovered that trust is affiliated with the word "perfection". which means you cannot trust something that is imperfect. I then realized the reason this statement was made.
God alone is perfect and the sooner we start trusting Him, the better for us. Ps. 118;8 says "It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.." Reasons are:
1. Man is weak and frail when left on his own has no capability to be trusted he is limited in strength and reach and being that the world is made up of the physical realm and the spiritual, man being a dependent being either on God for spiritual and physical sustenance or on some other spirits (as some foolishly do to their own destruction).
Finally it is clear by many experiences that human beings are unreliable and are today hot tomorrow cold. they have not in them the capacity to do good on their own and therefore tend to fail even when it is in their heart to do good so we must trust God and Him alone. By now we have rightly seen that this doesn't only apply to a particular gender but to every human being both male and female.
How Then Can We Live Together In Peace If We Don't Trust Ourselves.
The answer is simple. When we trust God, we must do whatever He wants us to do which means we must obey every word that comes from His mouth. And regarding relationships between husbands and wives God said in Eph.5:24 .But as the church is subject to Christ, so also the wives ought to be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her.
